At Soluble Hydrogen, we started with simple goals: improve safety and reduce curtailment. Approximately 10GWh per day (each) in Texas and California are not stored, primarily due to the inability to effectively integrate battery energy storage systems (BESS). Texas and California must turn off the collection of wind and solar energy or give it away. We will help them store this energy in lithium-based batteries, allowing for energy arbitrage. How?
We are empowering utilities to store solar, wind, and excess energy in a clean, safe, modular, carbon-negative way, utilizing BESS to store energy during low demand and high production periods, then sell energy during peak demand and low production times.
This innovative approach can effectively end curtailment.
At Soluble Hydrogen, our team has worked for more than fifteen years to develop efficient ways to store and move electrons and hydrogen, focusing on solutions that can integrate with battery energy storage systems (BESS). We are scaling a water soluble and environmentally safe chemistry, with 'baking soda' seen as the perfect solution to address curtailment challenges. This approach is applicable from home use to micro-grid systems and even at utility (grid) scale, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional lithium-based technologies.
Our team of energy, battery, and hydrogen experts is dedicated to converting excess electricity of all types into safe, energy-containing products. For instance, if there is excess solar energy, we aim to reduce curtailment. Similarly, when it comes to excess nuclear power-generated electricity, we will store this using advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS). This approach will enhance the resiliency and stability of the grid. Regardless of the energy source, we will store it for peak usage or for sale in the energy market, ensuring a more efficient use of resources.
We understand that most hydrogen produced is consumed on-site. We believe that will be true...until it isn't. We have studied this, and we are working toward smart storage and transport at any scale, including the integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) to enhance efficiency. After all, it's just electrons and protons, whether in the form of hydrogen or lithium. This approach is essential for addressing curtailment issues and improving grid stability, from off-grid homes to micro-grids and overall grid resilience.
